This workshop seeks to discuss the forms and functions of the sentimental in popular and political cultures in the Americas. It is part of the Global Sentimentality Project at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg (https://www.sentimental.phil.fau.de/) and is conducted by Heike Paul and Ursula Prutsch (LMU Munich). Besides a keynote by Elisabeth Bronfen on the "transnational diva" Carmen Miranda, papers will be given among others by Elaine Roth, Delia Gonzáles de Reufels, Jan-Henrik Witthaus, and Carmen Birkle.
