Heike Paul and Boris Vormann (Bard College) are invited to a panel discussion in context of the lecture series "Mutprobe Demokratie" ('A Test of Courage for Democracy') organized and hosted by the Carl-Schurz-Haus / German American Institute Freiburg (in cooperation with Colloquium politicum & Landeszentrale für politische Bildung). The German-language event is titled "Aus der Zeit gefallen? Anachronismen im politischen System der USA" ('Out of Date? Anachronisms in the U.S. Political System') which refers to the special issue of the journal nomos (11/2023), Die USA - eine liberale Demokratie und ihre Anachronismen, edited by Heike Paul and Boris Vormann. After the volume is introduced by its two editors, Heike Paul and Boris Vormann are joined by Christoph Haas (University of Freiburg) and Friederike Schulte (director of the Carl-Schurz-Haus) for a panel discussion on the threats to American democracy in the light of anachronisms in its current political system.
