Ten years after the publication of Heike Paul's seminal introduction to American studies The Myths that Made America (transcript, 2014), Katharina Gerund and Isabel Kalous (both FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) are organizing a workshop with contributions that reflect the book's uses in different classroom settings, while assessing its ongoing relevance for teaching American studies. The workshop will be held October 9-10, 2024 at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Its opening event on October 9, is a conversation between Heike Paul and cultural critic and historian Richard Slotkin, titled "America at a Crossroads."
