In context of the film series "Global Melodrama - Das Melodrama im Weltkino," Heike Paul is giving an introductory talk on Love Story (Arthur Hiller; USA; 1970) before a screening of the film at the Filmhaus Nürnberg on June 20, 2022. The series is part of the Global Sentimentality Project and takes place from May 20 - June 23, 2022, in cooperation with Filmhaus Nürnberg, DFG, and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. It features screenings of all in all ten melodramas, in part preceded by introductory talks. (Discussions of nine of the films are also included in the recently published Lexicon of Global Melodrama, edited by Heike Paul et al. (for more information see here)). The kick-off event is on May 20, 2022, featuring the film All That Heaven Allows (Douglas Sirk; USA; 1955), introduced by Elisabeth Bronfen (University of Zurich).
