The volume Die USA - eine liberale Demokratie und ihre Anachronismen ("The USA - A Liberal Democracy and Its Anachronisms") edited by Heike Paul and Boris Vormann (a special issue of Zeitschrift für Politik) is out now! The volume focuses on the U.S. as one of the oldest democracies in the world but also one that is in crisis and in need of reform - as has become apparent most strikingly in context of the January 6 Capitol attack but also beyond. The contributions in this volume by Maren Freudenberg, Christoph Haas, Eva Marlene Hausteiner, Laura Kettel, Alexander Keyssar, Christian Lammert, Claus Leggewie, Astrid Séville, Laura Vorberg, and the introduction by Heike Paul and Boris Vormann discuss various aspects that constitute apparent anachronisms in the American political system and culture by looking at political institutions, e.g. the Supreme Court, American Federalism, aspects of social justice, as well as the American party and media landscape.
