As an opening to the workshop "The Myths that Made America: Teaching American Studies" (held at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg on October 9-10, 2024, for more information see here), Heike Paul and Richard Slotkin - cultural critic, historian, and author of his latest book A Great Disorder: National Myth and the Battle for America (Harvard UP, 2024) - will talk about myths and their role in the formation of American identity and the current political and cultural divides in the United States. The conversation, moderated by Katharina Gerund, takes place on October 9, 2024, at 7 pm, at the Wassersaal of the Orangerie at Erlangen.
