At this year's conference of the Bavarian American Academy on "Environmental Citizenship: Politics, Practices, Representations," taking place in Munich from July 6-8, 2023, Heike Paul is chairing a roundtable discussion which addresses the question of "Environmental Citizenship as 'Doing Without'?" (scheduled for July 8, 2023). The participants in the discussion are Michael Kotutwa Johnson (School of Natural Resources and the Environment / Indigenous Resilience Center at the University of Arizona), Joshua Barnett (Assistant Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State University), and Isabel Kalous (postdoc at the Department of American Studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg). The topic also closely aligns with Heike Paul's current project "Doing Without: Re-Shaping the Cultural Imaginary of the Affluent Society".
